Oldie feeling like a newbie
« on: April 08, 2016, 02:30:17 AM »

Egads, I just realized (once again) that I’ve now been in recovery for over half my life!

And I still have a not-so-good habit of acting in a new area before reading the instructions.  Like posting here before looking over the rules of the forum.

Sure glad you fellow NA folks, and YouKnowWho, are so patient with me.  Anyway, howdy from the great s.w./u.s.! May our posting-connections be many in unity….

OK, i admit i was wrong to start posting without checking out the forum agreements first.  Corrected that ; they seem like reasonable guidelines to me.

Now how about a smiley                 Cool….

I’ve been waiting for someone to respond to me for over a week now, and it appears this part of the forum is dead, for now.

Too bad.  There could be a real opportunity here to make new posters feel

Don’t you think?

As I am new here on this site and have not a clue where to begin I’ll do what I’ve learned is best. Can you help me to understand this site and where I should start?
My name is Kenneth and I’m an addict who has 1 year yesterday. I’ll be celebrating on Aug 1st as that is what I felt would be easier for me to ‘remember when I started last year.
By the way…..        to the group. I Hope to have a little bit of group help and provide help if I can . My email should be available to anyone who needs it.

Hi Kenneth.  Sorry i wasn’t so prompt — my excuse: been vacationing (one of the great benefits of recovery).  I’m kind of new to this site also, so maybe we can learn together.  By the way Happy New Life Birthday!  I’ve got a birthday coming up soon, too.

Hope you check back here…

Hello my name is bruentta I’m new

Hello there.  I’ve never met a Bruentta before.  Does that have an english meaning?  Or maybe it is just a "screen name"?

My daily-life name is Dean, which the names-book says means something like "leader in the valley".  Not sure how much that applies, but i do live in a valley.

I’ll check back here more often now that we have some replies going.

See ya…

Welcome to all of you, and my apologies for not getting back to you sooner, I have been out of pocket.  Hope to see you guys around the forum or in the chat room.  We hold online recovery meetings each night at 10 pm EST.

Hugs,

Kat

I hope you stay in touch here, too, Kat.  I get distracted too easily in a chat room.  With a forum i can think it over more before i hit the "post" button (and admit it when i am wrong a little more quickly, hopefully).

Yk

Thanks, kat.

I like your definition of faith, in your signature line.  Have you seen this one?  (from a song by Michael Card)

To hear with my heart,
To see with my soul.
To be guided by a Hand i cannot hold.
To trust in a Way that i cannot see,
That’s what faith must be!
